Online sites for state news

  • Stateline.org "highlights the best of local news culled from the Internet, state statistical comparisons and original reporting on key policy issues."
  • Governing.com, created by the American Society for Public Administration, covers policy and process within the 50 states. It includes Governing's The Way We Tax report.
  • FACS, subtitled "Improving Journalism Through Education," is an independent source of "credible, compelling storytelling built on depth and understanding" of complex issues. It covers far more than information on states.
  • The Federation of Tax Administrators has a large amount of comparative data on tax rates and revenues.
  • The Leyburn Library Web site has a list of many resources for state government information.
