Social science research procedure
 
 
 
  1. Identification of the general problem or issue.
  2. Review of existing research and theory (heavily footnoted in your paper). Remember, it is the findings that are of importance.
  3. Statement of your hypothesis or hypotheses, derived from the literature review.
  4. Operationalization of the hypotheses (how you will test them).
  5. Explanation and interpretation of the data.
  6. Conclusions: Address any differences in your findings and those in your literature review; normative implications; suggestions for further research.
