The leading causes of death in
college-age adults
College age adults lead fast-paced lives and often engage in
risky behavior. While school shootings, like at Virginia Tech,
claim the lives of college-age adults nearly every year,
collegians are more likely to die in a car crash. The top five
leading killers of college-age adults:
1. Motor Vehicle Accidents- 29.7 %
2. Homicide- 17.3 %
3. Suicide- 12.98 %
4. Cancer- 5.24 %
5. Heart Disease- 3.21 %
