History tells story of troubled past

The Rockbridge area's history is littered with crises spanning the past several decades

Residents of Rockbridge County have seen more than their fair share of natural disasters, highway wrecks and other emergencies. Devastating floods in Buena Vista and Glasgow caused millions of dollars in damage, while powerful wind, snow and ice storms have frequently tested the skills of emergency response workers. The volunteers at fire and rescue squads across Lexington, Buena Vista and Rockbridge County have been called on numerous times to fight dangerous blazes, assist in river rescues and provide medical care for members of the community.
