Beautiful Rockbridge County is known for its scenic views and sleepy country atmosphere. But what happens here in the case of an emergency?

Since 1969, Rockbridge County has been the site of 13 presidentially declareddisasters, tying for the most in the state. These disasters have ranged from massive flooding to harsh winter wind and ice storms.

Fire and resuce squads take an average of 20 minutes to respond to a call. Three colleges also bring thousands of students to the area and with them, added safety concerns. And trucks on busy Interstate 81 carry hazardous materials through the county every day.
