Site credits This Web site is the product of six weeks of reporting by students in the journalism In-Depth Reporting capstone class at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. John Henderson, '09 John Henderson is a junior print journalism major from Rockbridge County, Va. John attended Episcopal High School where he took an interest in journalism and wrote for his school newspaper, The Chronicle. As a senior he was a Community Life editor, a copy editor and a staff writer. At W&L, John studied English, history, politics, philosophy, french, economics and geology before finally settling on journalism. John took a break after his sophomore year to work and travel. During his year off John worked in corporate communications, designing and creating a presentation for a startup software company in Reston, Va. He also worked for a lumber trading business in Mexico City and an architecture firm in Washington DC. John writes for both student newspapers, the Trident and The Ring Tum Phi, and has served as a reporter for the Rockbridge Report. This summer, John will be working as a Reynolds business intern at the Charlottesville Daily Progress. As a senior, John will take the position of news editor for The Ring Tum Phi. Alisha Laventure, '09 Alisha is a broadcast journalism and romance langages double major with a concentration in poverty studies. She has studied abroad on five continents and speaks five languages. She has served as a production assistant and a reporter for the Rockbridge Report. She is currently interning at Reuters in Bogota, Colombia as a field reporter. Jane Lee, '09 Jane is a junior broadcast journalism major from Des Moines, Iowa. She enjoys art history, horses and sailing. She has interned for U.S. Senator Charles Grassley in Washington, D.C., the Reeves Center with University Special Collections and NBC Universal in Boston. She has also served as a production assistant and a reporter for the Rockbridge Report. Next year she plans to study abroad in South Korea or France. She plans to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. Nicole Mooradian, '08 Nicole is a senior journalism and sociology and anthropology major from Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. Though she's listed as a print journalism major, she plans to pursue a career in online and multimedia journalism. During her time at W&L, she interned for WCAU / Internet Broadcasting at NBC10.com in Philadelphia and the city and interactive desks at the Press-Telegram in Long Beach, Calif., redesigned the homepage for W&L's Department of Journalism and Mass Communications and worked as part of the student newsroom at the 2007 Online News Association conference in Toronto. She has also served as a production assistant, reporter, producer and copy editor for the Rockbridge Report. |
