ockbridge County’s landfill has been home to the area’s trash for more than three decades. By 2012, after the landfill closes, how and where residents dump trash will change.  As the deadline nears, officials are looking at options such as building a transfer station for the area’s annual 50,000 tons of waste.

County enters negotiations with Rockbridge Resource Recovery

After months of hearing proposals on managing the county's trash, supervisors began talks with a business venture called Rockbridge Resource Recovery. RRR plans to build a transfer station and materials recovery facility.
