Jessica Shaw

Jessica Shaw is a senior journalism/sociology major with a poverty studies concentration.
She is originally from Dallas, Texas but lives in Austin now.
At Washington and Lee, she was on the swim team, ran track and ran cross-country. At different times, she acted as the sports editor, arts and life editor, news editor and co-managing editor for The Ring tum Phi, one of the school's newspapers.
She enjoys copy editing and feature writing and believes in the power of journalism to make positive changes in society.
She has worked as a metro intern for the Lexington Herald-Leader in Lexington, Kentucky during the summer of 2007. In the summer of 2008, she worked for The Tribune in San Luis Obispo, California as a Dow Jones Copy Editing Intern.
She will be working as an intern for Reformed University Fellowship at Texas Christian University for the next two years. She hopes one day to attend seminary and become a Christian counselor.
She has enjoyed her journalism experience at W&L and knows she will be able to apply it to many areas of her life, no matter which career she chooses.
