All you need to know about internships
An internship allows you to apply what you've been learning in classes in a professional setting. The experience will help you test your interest in the field and assess your preparation for the workplace. It can also introduce you to people who can be helpful when looking for a job after graduation.

Note: To receive credit for an internship through the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications, you must be a declared major in the department. You must also find your own internship. The department will not grant credit for an internship that you obtain through a paid finder service. Department faculty and staff will be happy to provide you with tips and leads for finding an internship.
Students interested in receiving credit for a summer internship should contact the department's internship coordinator, John Muncie, munciej@wlu.edu, as early as possible in the academic year preceding the summer in which they wish to serve the internship, but in no case later than Nov. 1. Credit for the internship will be granted in the Fall Term following the internship. Students must register for internship credits as an overload -- that is, they must register for at least 12 credits in addition to their internship credits. In no case will internship credit be granted to students who have not registered for all their required credits by the end of the fee-free drop-add period at the beginning of Fall Term.
