Internships lead to jobs for 2006 grads

Murray was selected for a prestigious Dow Jones Copy Editing internship at The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was hired full-time as a copy editor at the conclusion of her internship in August.
Patterson was hired full-time when he finished his internship with Bloomberg News.
The two were among 28 sophomore, junior and senior journalism majors who worked for newspapers, television stations, magazines and Web sites over the summer. They are:

Internships are required for print, broadcast and business-journalism majors. They are optional for mass communications majors. Students must work at least 300 hours to receive three credits and keep a daily journal during the summer. In the fall, they submit the journal and a portfolio of their work; write a 10-page paper about their experience; and make an oral presentation to fellow students and faculty.
