Famous Fed reporter visits W&L

Wall Street Journal reporter and Pulitzer Prize winner Greg Ip visited Washington and Lee this week to address "The Enigma of Alan Greenspan." In addition to delivering a public speech on Tuesday afternoon, Ip, who is nationally renowned for his coverage of the Federal Reserve, also spoke to several journalism and economics classes.

"Greg Ip's words move markets," said Donald W. Reynolds Professor of Business Journalism Pamela Luecke.  Luecke, with the support of the Reynolds Foundation, coordinated Ip's visit to the university.

Ip shared personal anecdotes about retired Fed chairman Alan Greenspan and the newly-appointed Ben Bernanke, who have been subjects of national focus over the past few weeks. He also discussed his own career as a business journalist of national prominence, and described the challenges he faces in covering the Fed.
