Gardeners teach students to use little green thumbs

Roots and Shoots gardens grow at Waddell, Effinger, and Fairfield elementary schools.    (MONICA CHINN/The Rockbridge Report)

The Roots and Shoots school gardens have been growing since 1995.  In this multigenerational gardening program, area residents help elementary school students learn the art and science of gardening.
