Acts perform at WLUR's open mic night.

W&L's local radio station, WLUR, celebrated 40 years on the air with its annual Open Air Waves contest Wednesday. The contest was held in Elrod Commons and featured performances by students and local area residents. Solo and group acts performed some classics along with original pieces. The contest featured poets as well as musicians.

A panel of three judges awarded the grand prize to pianist Mary Harvey.
