New technology would let police
get information on-the-go

The new information system will enable police to bypass central dispatch when they need to find information on criminals or criminal records.

The Lexington Police Department will be installing laptops in its squad vehicles if its $58,000 state grant application is approved. The computers would allow officers to check the criminal backgrounds of people they pull over.
