A cappella singers gather in Lexington

The crowd in the Lenfest Center at Washington and Lee University enjoyed the varied stylings of a cappella groups Mar. 7. The third annual A Cappella Festival had collegiate groups who traveled from Southern Virginia and James Madison universities to join singers from Washington and Lee.

Members of the local groups housed the out-of-towners over the weekend, making this not only a show for the community, but a chance for the singers to get to know one another.

"I like this weekend because we know what the groups on our campus can do --we see them all the time, hang out with them all the time," said Jeremy Winston, a member of James Madison University's Madison Project. "It's nice to see what other groups are up to; it's reassuring to see that there are thousands of kids across the county doing what we do."

General Admission, a Washington and Lee a cappella group, organizes the event. Members hope that next year, they'll be able to attract even more participants.
