Fire ravages W&L fraternity house

An early-morning fire Thursday heavily damaged Washington and Lee University's Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house on East Washington Street in Lexington. Officals say the fire started on the front porch; all 15 people inside escaped, although one fraternity member was treated for smoke inhalation at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital. A fraternity fire gutted the Phi Gamma Delta house at W&L in 1984, killing a sophomore student. The fraternity brothers displaced by Thursday morning's fire will be moved into the vacant Kappa Sigma house on East Nelson Street. Rockbridge Reporter Laura Sanders has the story.
