Frederic S. Mishkin, a Federal Reserve System governor, was scheduled to appear at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Stackhouse Theater in Washington and Lee University's Elrod Commons.

The speech, hosted by the Virginia Association of Economists and the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics, was entitled "Comfort Zones." Some observers anticipated that his remarks would indicate how the Fed will respond to the nation's current economic situation.
