VMI's "Vision: 2039"

Virginia Military Institute is entering an unprecedented era of change. With the implementation of "Vision: 2039," the institute has begun a series of construction projects with the goal of overhauling its crumbling facilities in time for its bicentennial celebration.

Most are happy with the $150 million project, which is designed to help VMI attain its three educational goals: athletic, academic, and military success.

But there are those in the local area who raise concerns about the environmental impact of the construction, as well as is effect on historical buildings in and surrounding VMI that are being demolished to make way for the improvements. FULL STORY
