Lexington City Council to decide on future of Waddell Elementary

The Lexington City Council is expected to decide on a site for a new or renovated Waddell Elementary School tonight at 8 p.m. in the County Courthouse. Facing problems in the current school including asbestos, dark classrooms and lack of space, Superintendent Dan Lyons says the only solution is to tear it down and build a new school. But some community residents are insisting that the current building be preserved and renovated. The school board has recommended a rebuilt school on its current site.
