Proposal to lift gas tax sparks debate

A proposed moratorium on gas taxes, aimed at combating rising gas prices in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, would save consumers 17.5 cents per gallon.  However, many claim that the tax would only further the problem by hitting the state with a $750 million loss. FULL STORY

Lexington fed up with W&L students parking downtown

Downtown merchants are complaining that students occupy parking spots intended for their customers.  Students say that they have a right to fair and accessible parking close to campus.  Parking, already inadequate for the city, is further limited by construction on W&L's campus. FULL STORY
