Flu-like symptoms cause spike
in RCHS absences

About 300 Rockbridge County High students were home with flu-like symptoms this week, but the school doesn't attribute it to the H1N1 strain (The Rockbridge Report/MONICA CHINN)

Swine flu has officially been labelled "widespread" in both the nation and Virginia. In the Rockbridge area the number of cases has increased steadily since the beginning of the school year. But Rockbridge County High School officials say the large number of absences is typical of flu season. Sheriff faces accusations
of assault, battery

Rockbridge County Sheriff Bob Day was served with an assault and battery warrant Tuesday after Emergency Management Services Coordinator Robert Foresman filed a complaint with police that Day was overly aggressive in an argument. Foresman said Day came into his office at the County Administration Building on Main Street and escalated his actions "beyond professional conduct." FULL STORY
