Voters flock to the polls
to make their voices heard

Lines have been queued up since polls opened this morning at the Lexington Life Saving Crew Building. Poll workers say this could be one of the biggest turnouts for a gubernatorial election in years (The Rockbridge Report/TIM WATSON)

Voter turnout in Rockbridge County appears to be high this year, and officials say that the national hype behind the election has a lot to do with it.  However, even with Creigh Deeds’ presidential endorsement, Republican Bob McDonnell still seems to be ahead in the polls.  But that hasn’t stopped Rockbridge County Democrats from mobilizing behind Deeds. 

While most people vote because of strong convictions toward a certain candidate, others vote because they say it is the right thing to do.  They want to take advantage of their freedoms and contribute to the state government in the best way they know how.
