Obama first candidate to file for state's primary

Barack Obama became the first presidential candidate to petition the State Board of Elections for a spot on Virginia’s primary ballot on Wednesday.

Virginia’s primary, which will be held on Feb. 12, is expected to be anti-climactic, according to an Associated Press report.  The primary will fall one week after the Super Tuesday primaries, in which many states will choose hundreds of delegates.

Gov. Tim Kaine voiced his support of Obama in February and has recently returned from a campaign trip in Iowa to support him.
