County schools brace
for severe budget cuts

On Dec. 19 Gov. Tim Kaine will release a report with next year's budget cuts. In Rockbridge County, schools may lose up to $1.3 million, posing a large threat to an already suffering school budget.

South Carolina man enlists W&L students to prove his innocence

A South Carolina man sentenced to life for murdering his daughter is seeking a new trial with the help of two W&L law students. They say Billy Wayne Cope was unable to present all of the evidence that his co-defendant was the killer and acted alone and that his confession was coerced by police interrogators.

 

Santa Claus is coming
to town early this year

This Saturday at Lexington's annual holiday parade Santa Claus will stand atop a new float. Local artist Mark Cline is creating the new float modeled after the 1964 film "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer."

Twinkling lights bring the holiday cheer to Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista. Every evening from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. the park is open for the community to drive through and enjoy the bright light displays.
