Worker falls to his death at VMI

A construction worker on the expanded barracks project at Virginia Military Institute fell to his death on Thursday, according to VMI Spokesman Lt. Col. Stewart MacInnis. Work on the project has been suspended, and an investigation is pending. The name of the worker has not been released.

Area drought bad for farmers,
but good for wineries

Agriculture is one of the biggest industries in Rockbridge County. When a drought hit the county three years ago, everybody noticed. Because this summer and fall were drier than usual, farmers may not have enough hay to feed their cattle this winter. But local winemakers rejoiced in a dry harvesting season and sweeter grapes.
